Superkrush to produce Promo Film about Rural Funding for ONE North East

Superkrush has been commissioned by ONE North East to produce a promotional film about RDPE (Rural Development Programme for England) funding. The film will showcase 5 case studies of farms and rural business from the North East to highlight how RDPE funding has helped them develop, change or grow their business.

Superkrush wins contract with Newcastle Science City

Superkrush is thrilled about the new contract with Newcastle Science City to produce a series of films to showcase Newcastle as a world class Science ‘Super’ City.

 

Superkrush successfully fended off competition from 16 other companies to win this exciting contract. The films will be used to encourage business and students in the region to create better links with science to ensure that science, technology and innovation succeed in becoming an engine for economic growth.

 

Shooting will get underway October around various locations in Newcastle.

“Tuesday at the Grand” wins category at International Community Film Festival

We are delighted to announce that the Short Film “Tuesday at the Grand” which we did with Save the Children and a group of young asylum seekers in 2007 has won the category “Special Commendation” at the International Community Film Festival 2008.

 

SHANK to be broadcasted on Community Channel

SHANK has been chosen as one of few projects to be broadcasted on the Community Channel as part of a youth programme that celebrates the talents of young people up and down the country and enables them to address the issues that matter to them. The film will be on TV and online from June 2009.

 

“Tuesday at the Grand” at V&A Museum in London

As part of their Refugee Week in June 2009, the V&A Museum will screen ‘Tuesday at the Grand’ as a good opportunity for the young people to get their voices heard and their films watched by a wider audience.

It’s a Wrap: TV advert for Great North Museum: Hancock

Superkrush has finished the production of the 30-second TV advert to announce the opening of the Great North Museum: Hancock which closed its doors to the public on 23 April 2006 and after a £26 million development, will reopen on 23 May 2009 with some amazing new features, including a life-size T-Rex Skeleton.

 

The advert was shot by James McAleer on the RED camera. Orange Panda created all CGI elements. The advert will be on ITV Tyne Tees from 11 May and will run for 6 months.

 

New Business Development Manager: Mark Catterall

Superkrush Films have appointed former CBS Account Manager Mark Catterall as new Business Development Manager. Mark, originally from Scotland, has been working in the Media Industry for 5 years and relocated to the North East 18 months ago.

SHANK wins Young Achievers Award

Shank is ‘in the awards’ again, winning the Northeast Young Achievers Award for drama production. Also, our lead actor Lewis Shaw received a special commendation for services provided to the community.

FEBRUARY 2009

 

Second Royal Television Society Award for Superkrush Films

SHANK, Superkrush’s latest community film, has won the category “Best Drama for a Niche or Target Audience” at the 2009 Royal Television Society Awards North East & Border.

 

Director Chris Taylor says:

 

“They grabbed ownership of the project from the first week. All of us were astounded by their natural talent for performing, but also the readiness of the lads to tell their own stories, to share with us the reality of being at the heart of one of Britain’s most widely debated issues.”

2008 – It’s a wrap!

2008 has been a very successful and exciting year for Superkrush Films and we’d like to thank everybody who have helped us along the way!

 

We have already lined up some productions for 2009 and will be sure to keep you informed.

 

To give the team a well-deserved rest, the office will be closed between 22 December and 4 January.

EAVE UPDATE

Newcastle based PR agency MitchellHaltonWatson PR have commissioned Superkrush Films to produce a promotional video for the NHS to inform about the creation of the Primary Care Centres in the region.

 

Tribute to Superkrush Films at YOUKI Film Festival

Superkrush Films is delighted to announce that YOUKI Film Festival in Wels (Austria) have selected “Tuesday at the Grand’ into their official selection and have invited the Superkrush Films team to host a Q & A session on Saturday, 29 November as part of a ‘Tribute to Superkrush Films’.

 

“Legacy” ay SCHLINGEL Film Festival

‘Schlingel’ Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences in Chemnitz (Germany) have selected ‘Legacy’ as part of their official short film competition. Two of the young actors from County Durham will visit the festival and will take part in a Q & A session.

 

RED OPEN DAY

NHS Promo Video Shoot

Between 17. – 24. November, Chris Taylor will visit the third and final EAVE workshop in Warsaw (Poland) where he will pitch ‘Life is Swede’ to 25 producers from all over world.

SHANK screening at Tyneside Cinema

After a 2-day colour grade at Lipsynch in London, SHANK will be screened again at the Tyneside Cinema on 17 September between 4-6pm at the Digital Lounge.

JUNE 2008

 

COMMUNITY FILM PREMIERE ON 3 JULY 2008

Superkrush Films and Sunderland Youth Offending Services are premiering their latest community film that is yet to be named on 3 July 2008 at 7pm at Sunderland University Media Department. The film was produced during a series of 10 weekly sessions with a group of young ex-offenders from Sunderland and is an accurate depiction of the daily struggle of young people who are a product of their unstable environment. It touches on the themes of fear, betrayal and the inescapable circle of crime.

EAVE UPDATE

Between 15. - 23. June, Chris Taylor will be visiting the second workshop of his EAVE course in Drogheda (Ireland). Him and writer James Johnson will be taking their feature film script "Life is Swede", which has been accepted onto the EAVE development slate.

 

NEPA event

On 5 June, Superkrush in collaboration with NEPA (North East Publicity Association) hosted a "Meet and Greet" event which was visited by 40 industry professionals.

Superkrush Expansion

Superkrush Films welcomes its newest member of staff, Lynsey Palmer. A recent graduate in Media Production (Northumbria University), Lynsey will work closely with Fabienne Riener in the capacity of Production Coordinator and with Charly Conquest on the development of Community Films.

MARCH 2008

 

Legacy Premiere

On 24 March 2008, Superkrush Films premiered its latest MEDIABOX project "Legacy" at the Gala in Durham. 150 people and the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoresse attended the event during which the young people involved were also presented with their Arts Award and Special Achievement Awards.

 

The short film was a collaboration with Durham County Council's Children and Young People's Community Support Team and a result of 8 workshops with 15 Young People who's situation at home is at risk of break down.

Start of new Community Film project with Sunderland YOS

After the success of "Lilya" and "Harvest" in 2007, Superkrush Films and Sunderland Young Offending Services are embarking on their latest Community Film Project with a group of young ex-offenders. The project will feature 10 weekly drama and film making session, during which the film will also be shot.

TV advert shoot for Decision Homebuyers

Happy New Year! The first project in 2008 was the TV advert for "Decision Homebuyers" shot on location in Newcastle on 18 January 2008. The TV ad will be aired on ITV, Channel 4, Living 2, Five Life and True Movies.

Community Film shoot with Durham County Council

Between 6.-8. December 2007, Superkrush Films in conjunction with Durham County Council's Children and Young People's Community Support Team shot "Legacy" in and around Newton Aycliffe. "Legacy" is Superkrush Film's latest MEDIABOX project and features 15 young people from difficult backgrounds. The film's central theme is teenage pregnancy and tells the story of young Leah, who goes on a magical journey to find out whether she is wants to keep the child she is pregnant with.

NOVEMBER 2007

 

Save the Children Premiere

On 21. and 28. November 2007, Superkrush Films and Save the Children premiered the "Passport Shorts" at Cineworld in Middlesbrough and at Dance City in Newcastle. The premieres were attended by hundreds of people and received rave reviews. "Passport Shorts" is a series of 3 short films by and with young Refugees and Asylum Seeker, funded by MEDIABOX.
